Mighty Swim 2020 Update
Thank you to all who have sponsored me so far. The Mighty Swim is over for 2020 and I had a blast. This year, I swam 14 km - one km for each year I have done the swim - which is one of my bests since I developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in mid-2011, and my best since my record of 20 km in 2012. Mum also did an amazing effort swimming 4 km.
My costume for Costume Hour this year represented my area of study - my bachelor's degree which I graduate from on Thursday (yes, I reached my goal this year of not getting sunburnt) - as a crime scene investigator.
There is still time to donate.
Why I Swim in the Mighty Swim
This year will be my 14th year taking part in the MS Mighty Swim. This means that my first Mighty Swim was in 2007 at the age of 8. That year I swam 6.5 kms and since then I have swan everything between 3.5 km and 20 km. I take part in the Mighty Swim because my amazing mother, Ruth Hay, has Multiple Sclerosis and I want to support her in any way that I can. This support could be in the form of raising awareness or fundraising or just being there to support mum around the house or to talk over the phone. I love doing the Mighty Swim each year with my mother and wouldn't miss it for anything. Due to university, I now spend most of my time interstate, and this year I am studying my honours. In past years, due to the university term, I have been able to participate in the Mighty Swim before the trimester starts. However, honours has already started so this year I am flying back to Adelaide just for the weekend to swim and support mum.
Any donation you can make is extremely appreciated.
I am taking the MS Mighty Swim challenge!
I'm raising money to support people living with multiple sclerosis! I’m inspired by the work the MS Society SA/NT do for people living with MS, and I want to help them make a difference! Please sponsor me today by giving whatever you can. Every little bit will help me reach my fundraising goal!
The more people that know about the MS Society, the greater the impact. So please spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you for your generous support, it means a lot!
